Mika released last Friday his second third album, called The Origin of Love, and the CD is filled with songs in French! The fact that Mika is singing a lot in French is not surprising, since he is a big hit in Paris and he speaks fluent French (he’s lebanese, after all). The double CD has four songs in French and my favorite, so far, is Karen. Last year, his single Elle me dit was in all the posters in the subway in Paris, but the song did not get me very excited, even after I watched the music video and it was starred…

I’ve just discovered, listening to FIP (that great French radio station I already spoke about here), a new singer called Maïa Vidal. The 24 years old young woman is American, but she recorded her first album – called God is my Bike – in Barcelona. She spends a lot of time in Europe and apparently is an admirer of the French chanson. The record brings two tracks in French, but my favorite song is in English and has a beautiful music video. My favorite in French is called Le tango de la femme abandonnée. And after searching for more of her videos on…

Good news: Barcella’s new record is out and he’s giving away his new track Ma Douce. The bad news is: you need to have an account in the French iTunes Store to be able to get it for free. In case you do, just click here to download it. In case you don’t, I recommend you pay, because the song is great.

It’s not really news that Iggy Pop had already been flirting with the good old French chanson, but today I read some surprising piece of news: the Huffington Post announced that the former leader of the Stooges is releasing a new record with covers of French classics, singing songs by some of the greatest: like Henri Salvador, Georges Brassens, Serge Gainsbourg, Édith Piaf and Joe Dassin. If you want a taste of the record, you can click on the links below to listen to the first minute of each song.» Et si tu n’existais pas (Joe Dassin)» La Javanaise (Serge Gainsbourg)…

Everyone knows that the beautiful and talented singer Berry is releasing a new record. After putting on her website a video with scenes of the recordings of Si c’est la vie, the first single of her very awaited second record, she now gave us another taste of what’s yet to come. For those who will be lucky enough to be in Paris in June, Berry is scheduled to play in the 12th and 13th. The tickets are already available for sale and they cost 25 euros.

Yay! Berry, one of my favorites from the nouvelle scène française, gave us a little present today. Her new record, to be released on April 23, is entirely online, available to listen in streaming. How awesome is that? I just love when artists (and the labels) make decisions like this. It kind of gives me a feeling that they understand a little something about the world today. If you’re ready to listen, simple choose one of the two options given below (connect with Facebook or give your email address) and you’re ready to go! If that doesn’t work, the original…

Do you guy remember when I posted a song by Loheem here in the blog? Well, good news! She was kind enough to give me an exclusive interview, talking about her work and plans for the future, check it out below the video. And don’t forget to check out her BandCamp page: http://loheem.bandcamp.com/ I love French music: When you accepted to give this interview, I started making research on your life, so that the questions would be more interesting, but I soon realized that there’s not much information on your biography in English or Portuguese. So, my first question is not…

I’m sure it’s not a secret to you guys that I’m super excited with the release of the posthumous record by Henri Salvador, that is being produced by no one less the Benjamin Biolay, as I reported last December. The album will be released in June 18 and already has a name: Tant de temps. Very appropriate. And that’s the reason why I got so excited when I read today that there’s already a taste of this so awaited album circulating the web (don’t you just love the internet?). The song is called Ça n’a pas d’importance and you can…

Do you guys remember that, last year, during an interview with Benjamin Biolay in Paris, I heard him speaking of a work in progress about a brand new record with new song by the late Henri Salvador? Well, finally today there was news on the very much awaited new album. Apparently, it will be released on June 18. While we anxiously wait, how about listening to one of his most fun covers? It’s a song that always makes me smile.

Do you guys remember I made a post here about Nadeáh? Well, I’ve got news for you. She just released a new video clip for the song At the moment, one of my favorites from her first solo record, called Venus gets even. For those who don’t know that, Nadeáh is Australian and lives in Paris, she started her career as one of the singers of the project Nouvelle Vague.
